Reflecting on our 7th Georgetown Shop Anniversary

Dear Take Care Community,

Thank you for all the love this week! From the bottom of my heart, I am so appreciative of this amazing community we have. To be completely honest, our 7th shop anniversary is one that I struggled to get excited for — 5 was a big deal. 10 will be a huge deal. 7? It kind of felt unremarkable.

And then I started thinking about the number 7. While I’m no numerologist, I spent a couple days reflecting on the significance of this number and it really lit a fire in me. Connection. Expansion. Inviting you to your greater good. It is a special number across cultures and literatures, and through it, I was reminded that each year we are here at 1338 Wisconsin is a year to be cherished. To never be taken for granted. Not only that, the symbology around the number 7 reminded me that a successful small business truly takes a village. I am so grateful to ‘grow up’ with some amazing local shops that truly put their heart and soul into what they do. It’s an inspiration every single day to be counted as a small business in the DC community.

Over the past seven years, we have seen countless changes both at the shop and, not to be trite, in the world at large. Each of those changes has shifted our identity, even if only in tiny ways, and cumulatively those little changes have added up to us being a little different than we were a few years ago. I was recently invited to be on Good Morning Washington, and when I was thinking of what I’d say when they asked, “So why did you start Take Care?” I reflected back on the reason we put down roots. To me, despite all the little changes, Take Care is and will always be a celebration of natural ingredients to help support and nourish your skin and your wellbeing - an invitation to take care of yourself in the gentlest of ways in order to start and end your day in a beautiful way.

For us, the little moments of personal care are to be celebrated. This year, we have introduced beautiful and impactful new brands, expanded our team team to better nurture you, and created space for new and old customers alike to find those special products and tools that help you reconnect with yourself throughout the day. I hope you have felt that love here in the shop, or in the treatment rooms — and let’s be honest, in our conversations in the DMs on Instagram :)

As this summer begins to dwindle, as glimmers of back to school and autumn start to emerge, I find myself ready to move into this next shop year and season with a sense of readiness, of excitement. I am personally not a summer girl… but fall? This is where it really gets good. I will spend the next few weeks day dreaming about how to make this fall feel like a warm embrace here at the shop. I can’t wait to share it all with you!

Thank you again for everything, friends. I am truly incredibly blessed and grateful to you.

Sincerely,

Becky
